The Setting:
Nestled in the heart of Moonee Ponds, The Re-Up Café had all the makings of a great hangout — top-tier coffee, a killer menu, and a crew that made you feel right at home. But the interior? Let’s just say it was giving more “modern minimalism” than “warm and welcoming.” The owners wanted the space to match the down-to-earth, vibrant energy of their café, and that’s where we came in.
The Challenge:
How do you take a stark, modern interior and infuse it with life, colour, and personality—without going full jungle mode? The brief was simple but exciting: florals, greenery, and a bold splash of colour to create an inviting, lively atmosphere. With a budget and mood board in hand, the owners gave us the ultimate green light: “Go wild.” (Music to our ears.)
The Solution:
We took that freedom and ran with it—straight up the walls and across the ceiling. The pièce de résistance? A full-size wattle tree that appears to be growing from a pot and spreading its golden blooms overhead. Because why settle for a regular tree when you can have one that defies gravity?
Other standout features include:
🌿 Hanging glass jars along the back wall, adding an airy, elegant touch
🌿 A tropical planter that brings a lush, island vibe (without the need for a passport)
🌿 Trailing greenery from ceiling hoops, because greenery should literally be everywhere
🌿 A bougainvillea wall bursting with colour—because nothing says “vibrant” like a pop of hot pink
The result? A café that now feels as good as it tastes. The space is warm, full of life, and finally reflects the heart and soul of the people behind it.
